Certainty in Uncertain Times

To say that these times are uncertain seems to be more than an understatement.  It seems safe to say that the news media is reporting everything from it being the end of our nation, to no big deal it is just a hiccup.  Regardless of what your position is on this matter, or any other one, there is a way to know peace in the midst of all this craziness.

It is the peace the surpasses all human understanding.  It is peace that comes from knowing that we have peace with God through and for the sake of Jesus.  His death and resurrection paid the price for our sins and restored us to our God.  God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, gives to us all that we need to support our bodies and lives.  No matter what is going on in the world around us, we can be sure and confident in knowing that God will provide for all that we need.  He will take care of us.  He will always be with us and never forsake us.

It is my prayer for you in these uncertain times, that you would know the certainty of God’s forgiveness in Jesus, and his presence in your life, and that that certainty would be for you a source of joy and comfort.

God bless you this week and always.

Here in Awe

Last week I celebrated my Birthday.  I also got a present that I was not expecting.  Isaac Charles came five weeks early.  He was born at 1:05 a.m. on Friday, August 29.  He is quite small, but very healthy and we are all home now safe and healthy.

What a miracle this little guy is.  Last night I was holding him and as he was sleeping his facial expression would change.  He would smile, and then he would scowl, and then he would pucker up and then he would smile again.  It was almost as if his face was warming up the different muscles for the different expressions that he will make in his life.  I must have watched this for thirty minutes.  He is so very precious.

Because he came early, he caught us off guard.  We were planning to have family in town to help make the transition from a family of four to a family of five.  One wise person I know said that when you get to the third child the parents have to change from a man-to-man defense to a zone.

But in the midst of this transition we have been so lovingly supported by the members of our congregation.  They bring us meals, shower us with gifts, let us know that they are praying for us.  They are willing to help in any way that they can, and it is truly awesome.

Their love is very evident in their actions.  Their witness is very powerful.  It is not one of words, but one of actions.  And through these things, they praise God.

My family and I thank you.  We thank God for you.    May he bless you now and always and in everything you do.

Sincerely,

Pastor CJ
